Check out our anatomical ear model to understand how otitis externa affects your dogs ear

The award winning interactive dog ear anatomical model from Dechra offers valuable benefits for both veterinarians and pet owners.

Pet owners benefit as you can better understand your dog's ear structure and potential issues. By selecting specific components, you can access detailed information, including:

  • External ear canal, ear drum, inner ear and middle ear.
  • Mild otitis symptoms, including redness and wax build up.
  • Moderate otitis symptoms, including: wax, pus, redness and swelling.
  • Severe otitis, including: Redness, swelling, pus, narrowing of the ear canal, rupturing and fluid in the middle ear.

The ear model can ensure veterinarians and pet owners are able to identify abnormalities, understand diseases, and collaborate effectively with one another.

If your dog has a disturbed self cleaning mechanism, we suggest collaborating with your veterinary team to find the perfect ear cleaner for your dog. Watch our instructional video and get practical hands on tips on how to successfully clean your dog´s ear at home.

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a severe problem, and it has resulted in some lifesaving treatments becoming less effective. By using antibiotics only where needed, as instructed, and for the appropriate period, we can all help to prevent the development of AMR. Although some cases of ear disease might need an ear medication containing an antibiotic, some will do well with a specialised ear cleaner that has some anti-septic properties in combination with an anti-inflammatory ear drop. The pleasant thing about ears is that they are quite visual. You can detect any redness of the earflap, excessive wax, or pus causing an unpleasant smell from the ear canal. We suggest that you make a habit of monitoring your dog’s ears and collaborate with your veterinary team to construct a Lifelong Ear Partnership that fits your situation. Check out our ear diary to help you monitor your dog´s ears.
